Hey everybody,

It indeed had been some time, and I know you all are probably wondering “where in the world has she been?”…well everyone knows about those moments when life gets extremely busy and you have to just whoosah. Yup! The greatest thing one can do in their self-healing journey, is actually take time for themselves. Life has been…interesting to say the least. I have been actively taking steps to further my career along with working extra hours, so my time has been very limited. Nonetheless, when I do have time for myself, I like to spend it with family, or engulfing myself in activities catered around my self-betterment, including reading and writing. I have been allowing God to guide me in all aspects of my life, even with blogging. When I blog, it is about something very real to me, and I get a push from the Lord to share with you all, the developments taking place from within. In all…stay tuned because I will be back shortly. I’m Sorry…



It was a mistake. I didn’t mean too. It was not intentional. I didn’t mean it that way. It was my only option. I was a kid for Christ’s sake. The things people say day in and day out in order to justify their actions. Let’s just call it for what it is…a decision! People make decisions in their lives that they later on are embarrassed about, or they consider mistakes. It is the process of development and growth. These choices are what help contrive the characteristics of an individual and causes us to forgive time and time again. It is not only necessary but warranted for healthy human interaction as well as self-reflection. But what happened to forgiving ourselves? Lets be honest. Most of us are not the same people we were 10 years ago. I mean please…we aren’t the same people we were 10 days ago. As I sit here and reflect on my life and the circumstances that I have been faced with, I am filled with pride, that I have grown into the individual I am today. There is not a perfect person walking this earth and almost everyone has done or said something in which would not be considered their proudest moments (stretches arms). In some instances, we had absolutely no control over situations that arose over the course of our lives thus far, however, we cannot dwell on the past.

When you live in the past, you neglect yourself the opportunity to create a future. We spend so much time thinking about the what ifs…. What is done is done. Stop using your past as a crutch for the decisions that you are making today. Letting your past define you, never allows you the opportunity to know your full potential. You have no reason to be embarrassed by your past. Your past is what makes you you, but you can never truly move forward or be happy until you’ve taken the necessary steps to forgive yourself. Here are a few things I try on a daily basis to help me to continue to progress on my self-betterment journey:

  1. Prayer
  2. Taking a hard look in the mirror and asking myself am I happy with the person I have become. If you aren’t happy about something…change it. And if you can’t change it…forgive yourself and move on.
  3. Acknowledging all of the things in my life I have to be thankful for
  4. Speak it into existence…”I forgive you”

So when all else fails…reflect on your life…and remember, forgiveness is your first step of healing.

The Greatest Teacher of All…

Have you ever asked yourself “who am I?” Have you ever sat and really thought about what your defining characteristics are? (i.e. what makes you you) As humans, we are often confronted with situations beyond our control. These situations are not the defining factor of our being, but how we respond to them, tells most about who we are.

I recently have been flooded by a stream of emotions, and not from myself, but from individuals who I have come in contact with. Every human interaction is not one of a friendly manner. Sometimes, they are down right negative! But what do you do in moments like this? It is human nature to want to respond in a similar manner, however, sometimes, taking a different approach can make a significant impact on the outcome of the circumstances. Instead of fighting fire with fire, try a thing I like to call…compassion. Ask yourself, “what could Katherine possibly be going through, that would cause her to respond this way?”

We cannot control others’ actions or words. What we can control, is the way we respond to them! By trying to gain a better understanding of another’s mindset, we put ourself in a position, to not let off more emotions than a situation deserves, thus relieving the amount of stress we are experiencing in the moment. We cannot let others’ anger fill our heart with misery or vexation. It will only shift our state of well-being and put a halt on or journey of betterment.

Ponder the fellow feeling, while parading warmth, kindness, and humanity. Smile…and maybe they will too!


Hey Memorial Day Weekend…I see you: 6 memorial day relaxation ideas.


What are you guys up to this memorial day weekend?

Well, I am taking the time to enjoy the company of my family. At 17 years old, I took a leap of faith and moved to a city by myself with absolutely no family or friends, and while 10 years later I have established a life for myself here, I still cherish the moments when I can visit home and enjoy the company of my family.

While not everyone has the luxury of having the day off or being able to travel to see family, there are several activities you can enjoy by yourself, to stimulate your mind and enjoy the holiday.

  1. Watch a movie you’ve never seen before. This can be at home, or you can take yourself on a date to the movies. Grab a small popcorn and enjoy. This way you don’t have to worry about anybody talking your ear off through the credits. lol.
  2. Cook yourself a nice meal or go enjoy dinner at a place you’ve been dying to try.
  3. Catch up on sleep. Some of us, myself included, work long, busy days. I know I live for a good day off, where I can just lay in my bed.
  4. Go hiking. Take in the fresh air and the scenery. Enjoy life for what it is…BEAUTIFUL!
  5. Clean. For some this is just as intense as a day at work. For myself, I find cleaning relaxing. Not to mention how much I love the smell of fresh lilac and verbena.
  6. If all else fails….call a friend. Sometimes just the company of a friend is all we need to put a smile on our face.

Ahhh…the smell of the grill and the warm hugs yet to be shared. Everyone have a wonderful memorial day weekend!

Books That Stimulate Acceptance

Jen Sincero- “You are a Badass”

Confession: I have never been one to think that books were for more than the purpose of reading, be it for pleasure or due to academics. Nonetheless, my best-friend told me about a book she was reading by Jen Sincero titled: “You are a Badass.” It is a how-to guide on self-development skills and accepting the state of your life….and let me tell you….did I ever get the realest wake up call in my life. This is a raw read that will leave you looking at your life from an entirely different angle. For me, this has been the driving factor to my self-improvement journey. If you need a little motivation to embark on your healing process, this is a GREAT way to do it!
